How Ayurveda can cure any disease?

Ayurveda focuses on the root of the disease. Nadi Parikshan (Pulse Reading) is central to Ayurveda. So if a Vaidya prescribes Ayurvedic medicine without Nadi Parikshan (Pulse Reading), then the disease will be cured to only a small interval and will again come out in another form.

Nadi Parikshan focuses on Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Some disease happens due to Vata imbalance, others due to Pitta imbalance, others due to Kapha imbalance, others due to all three imbalance, and others due to any two combination of doshas. Nadi Parikshan (Pulse Reading) helps the Vaidya to decide which of the combination is the primary cause of the disease.

These imbalances disturb the smooth functioning of different organs. Nadi Parikshan helps the Vaidya to determine and treat the root cause of the disease. The disease is just a symptom of these imbalances.

There is a saying in Hindi that Apna haath jagannath which means the hands are a complete world in themselves. But it is used in the sense that hands can help you to determine the status of different organs of the body.

Vata, Pitta, and Kapha are determined by Nadi, and the acupressure points tell the status of the individual organs. Vaidya Harikesh Chauhan gives an anecdote about one of his patients who was a doctor himself, who had knee pain. After getting the checkup and testing, the test results showed there was no problem shown with the knee. Neither there was a cartilage problem, nor a fluid problem. But he still had knee pain.

So after doing the Nadi Parikshan (Pulse Reading) Vaidya Chauhan told him that the cause was a vein in the neck. So after about a week-long 30-minutes massage session, the patient was perfectly fine and there had been no knee pain afterward. This is only possible with Nadi Parikshan because no test can tell these problems.

The importance of Nadi Parikshan (Pulse Reading) can also be understood by one other example. Suppose there are 3 patients who are there all suffering from back pain but the same prescription won’t work because the cause will be different for all three. So Nadi Parkshan will work like tests but is much more effective as it is not localized like the chemical tests which test for particular molecules doing either quantitative analysis or qualitative analysis. But as the scope is limited they are not able to map the disease comprehensively.

On the other hand, Nadi Parikshan is comprehensive and looks at the mapping of the body and disease holistically. This is the beauty of Nadi Parkshan (Pulse Reading) and if your Vaidya doesn’t do Nadi Parikshan, he is not a complete Vaidya.

Home remedies can only treat a disease temporarily. This doesn’t mean home remedies are useless. It’s just that they treat the acute disease but not the cause of the disease.

For example, the cause of Diabetes can be due to Heart problems, Hypertension, B.P., liver, or even an imbalance of Manipur Chakra can lead to Diabetes problems. That’s why a knowledgeable Vaidya will treat it differently even though the disease is the same.

Ayurvedic medicines should not be prescribed without Nadi Parikshan (Pulse Reading). But Home remedies can be. So it is always better to visit in person rather than teleconferencing or video-conferencing. In Ayurveda, medicine is only for rare cases or extreme cases.
